Main purpose of job: 

To design, deliver, and evaluate training programs that equip employers and internal staff with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support adults with learning disabilities and autism into sustainable employment, while fostering inclusive workplace practices and continuous professional development.

Location: 

Your usual places of work will be at the Little Gate Supported Employment Office in Battle and at the workplaces of the trainees whom you support. However, your job duties include a requirement that you will travel away from these locations as may be required by the Charity for the proper performance of your duties. Other locations may include but are not limited to other offices or branches of the Charity, any agreed remote working location (which could include your home). 

Salary:
£14 per hour – (equivalent to an annual salary of £29,120 per annum) 

Your usual hours of work will be 40 hours per week. Core working hours will be between 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday however, days and hours of work may be variable to suit the business needs of the Charity, availability of employers and the training needs of those you support. You may be required to schedule work outside of these hours and days (weekend, early morning and evening work) on occasion. 

In certain circumstances, it may be necessary to adjust or exceed your normal working hours in order to meet the requirements of your job.  

Probationary period:  

6 months 

Holiday Entitlement: 

5.6 weeks per annum (pro rata) inclusive of bank and public holidays

Safeguarding requirements: 

All employees and volunteers and volunteers, regardless of their posts, share in the responsibility for protecting our work trainees, young rangers and students, keeping them safe from harm whilst they are attending Little Gate and for reporting concerns about any person’s welfare and safety. 

The post holder will be engaging in regulated activity with vulnerable adults at risk. 

Initial and ongoing safeguarding training will be provided as part of the role.

Main tasks of job: 

 Design & Delivery of Training 

  • Develop and deliver tailored training programs for external employers to promote neuroinclusive practices and supported employment. 
  • Facilitate internal workshops and CPD sessions for Little Gate staff, focusing on neurodiversity, inclusive employment, and organisational values. 
  • Create and maintain training resources, factsheets, and guidance materials for both employers and staff. 
  • Design training packages that can be marketed and sold to external organisations, generating additional income for Little Gate. 

Employer Engagement & Support 

  • Conduct initial meetings with employers at the start of their journey with a trainee to clarify expectations and support needs. 
  • Book and deliver training sessions adapted to employer schedules and formats. 
  • Follow up with employers post-training to assess effectiveness and identify further needs. 
  • Provide additional training to resolve issues or enhance understanding of autism and learning disabilities. 

Collaboration & Coordination 

  • Work closely with the Employer Engagement Team and Job Coaches to co-deliver training and ensure consistency. 
  • Liaise with external partners such as Jobcentre Plus, training providers, and local government. 
  • Attend job fairs, employer visits, and networking events to promote Little Gate’s mission and training offer. 

 Monitoring & Evaluation 

  • Track training effectiveness and ensure quality and compliance with standards such as BASE (British Association of Supported Employment). 
  • Share feedback and insights to improve training content and delivery across teams. 

Internal Development & Onboarding 

  • Support onboarding of new staff with structured training and induction when required. 
  • Reinforce strategic goals and values through internal development initiatives. 
  • Identify gaps in internal training provision and propose solutions to strengthen staff capacity.

Essential Criteria 

  • Passionate about inclusion and committed to improving outcomes for people with learning disabilities and autism. 
  • Professional and respectful in all interactions, upholding the values of Little Gate. 
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates integrity in handling sensitive information. 
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and to upholding the dignity, rights, and choices of individuals in all aspects of work. 
  • Proven ability to create safe, inclusive, and respectful environments for people with learning disabilities and autism. 
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and working independently with minimal supervision with ability to remain calm, focused, and professional under pressure adapting quickly with a positive, proactive and solution-focused attitude. 
  • Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and consistency in meeting deadlines and commitments. 
  • Experience in designing and delivering training, ideally in the fields of supported employment, neurodiversity, or adult education. 
  • Proven track record of working with employers or in partnership settings to promote inclusive practices. 
  • Demonstrable presentation and facilitation skills, with confidence in delivering training both in-person and online. 
  • Excellent communication skills—able to adapt style for different audiences including employers, staff, and people with learning disabilities and/or autism. 
  • Curious, reflective, and open to feedback—actively seeks opportunities to learn and grow. 
  • Willing to travel for work and represent the organisation externally with ability to travel independently, full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. 
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one). 
  • Ability to build trust and rapport quickly with external partners and internal colleagues. 
  • Competent in using digital tools for training delivery, reporting, and resource creation. Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365. 
  • Understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities (training can be provided). 
  • Ability to identify opportunities for developing chargeable training packages that align with organisational values and generate additional income. 
  • Understanding of how to evaluate training effectiveness and apply feedback to improve future sessions. 

 

Qualifications
English and Mathematics level 4/C or above (or equivalent) 

Desirable Criteria 

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults in a safeguarding-conscious environment and can demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding principles and legislation relevant to working with children and vulnerable adults. 
  • Familiarity with BASE standards or similar frameworks (desirable). 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on sustainability and impact. 

Qualifications;
Relevant training or qualifications in education, social care, supported employment, or training delivery.
